Walk: Rhosgadfan and Moel Tryfan, Gwynedd

A cold cloud swirls down from the hills and cloaks the chapel, the slagheaps, the brightly coloured playground and the grey stone and pebbledash houses. The roads are empty, and the school quiet, its roof ripped off by Storm Barbara. This is Rhosgadfan, where Kate Roberts spent her childhood on the slopes of Moel Tryfan and Moel Smytho, and which is the setting for her early novels including Feet in Chains and Tea in the Heather. Suddenly the cool cloud dissolves. The sea glitters, skylarks rise over the moors, children laugh on the swings and the mountains are revealed. Kate Roberts...

But many oblivious people refuse to believe that being homosexual, bisexual, queer, and transgender are as old as history itself. In fact, some delusional people would go as far as to think they've spotted actual mistakes in movies, books, and media that speak of LGBTQ existence in the past. And thanks to the wonderfully colorful corner...

Spotify reportedly won’t take a cut from podcasters who sell in-app subscription

s Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge Spotify is reportedly planning to debut its in-app podcast subscription offering next week. The Wall Street Journal reports today that the company will not take a cut from podcasters who choose to sell in-app subscriptions and also will allow them to set their own pricing. Listeners on its iOS app will be routed through a website to purchase the subscriptions, thereby allowing Spotify (and podcasters) to skirt around Apple’s fees. The news comes right after Apple Podcasts debuted its own in-app subscriptions. The company will allow podcasters to sell access to ad-free,...

During the five years that I lived in New York City, my parents would joke every time they picked me up from the bus station, asking if I needed to go to the bullseye-adorned superstore before heading back to their house. And, hey, can you blame me? Target is home to everything anyone really needs or wants: beauty products, electronics, home goods, food, kids toys—you name it. And with the retailer's latest endeavor—The...
