Bamboo Body – The Most Beautiful Feeling Clothes

I discovered Bamboo Body in January this year when I was looking for beautiful fabrics that would travel well for a study trip to Vietnam. I heard positive things about bamboo fabrics and wanted to give them a go. You can read the full wardrobe capsule post here.

After my trip to Vietnam, I did an update about some of my favourite pieces and how the clothes travelled. The below collage include snaps from the outfits I wore in Vietnam, and the stars are Bamboo Body products. As you see, I wore them A LOT. What I found about bamboo cotton while travelling:
It’s incredibly comfortable! It doesn’t hold bad odours. I found that the fabrics didn’t smell bad, even after wearing them all day. The creases fall out. Most of the pieces I purchased were made from stretchy-type material, although I did have one white woven bamboo cotton shirt. This one did crush, but not very much. I just hung it up and then wore it without ironing.
I’ve been wearing the pieces all year now, and the quality is amazing. I’m off to Bali soon to celebrate my 40th with some girlfriends and I needed a few extra pieces to carry me over to summer (it was quite cold in many parts of Vietnam — as you can tell from the pics).

I was eyeing off Bamboo Body’s new spring collection when I noticed a call out for bloggers who might like to try out some of their new collection. What was amazing, the person doing the call-out was Melissa, who I know and have loved working with — off and on — since the very early days of blogging (we are talking probably eight years ago!)

Melissa had just started working with this fabulous company, as we haven’t connected in years so it was just wonderful! I already purchased quite a few items, and I was gifted a few pieces from their new collection which I’ll feature further below. First, I just want to tell you al little more about this Australian business.
Bamboo Body & Bamboo Fabric
I didn’t realise this before now, but Bamboo Body actually started right here in my hometown, Brisbane in 2005. Sisters Amanda and Elouise started off as a retail maternity clothing store. Their customers, affected Brisbane’s scolding summers, were looking for breathable, comfortable fabrics to keep them cool and comfortable over the long summer months.

At the time, bamboo fabric was relatively new, and the sisters researched everything they could find out about this amazing, drapeable fabric. Now, Bamboo Body has expanded the range to include dresses, tops, cardigans, pants, skirts, pyjamas, sock and underwear, all designed in Australia.

I’ve listed some of the benefits of bamboo fabric below which echos my own experience discussed above:
Luxuriously Soft and Comfortable: soft, light and comfortable to wear. Thermo Regulating: Bamboo fibre is thermo-regulating, which means it can keep you warm when the weather is cool and keep you cool when the weather is warm.  Breathable: Studies have shown that bamboo clothing is more breathable than cotton and its moisture-wicking properties help keep your body fresh and dry. Skin-friendly: Bamboo Body fibre is OEKO-Tex100 certified which means the fabric is free from harmful chemicals and residues. Bamboo is also naturally hypoallergenic. Sun Protection: All black Bamboo Body clothing has been certified UPF 50+ by ARPANSA. They are in the process of testing more of fabric colours to confirm their UPF ratings. Many styles have a higher neckline and longer sleeves for extra sun protection. Organic: The Bamboo Body range is made with organically grown bamboo. Sustainable Fabric: Bamboo is one of the most sustainable and renewable resources in the world. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on Earth and is one of the few plants that can keep up with deforestation – bamboo only takes 5 years to mature compared to 30-40 years for trees. Sustainable Design: Bamboo Body considers the entire lifecycle of a product and the company’s focus is to provide beautiful clothing that will be worn time and time again. Collections are trans-seasonal, versatile and are classically stylish. Eco-Friendly: Bamboo requires no pesticides, fertilisers and very little water to grow. Bamboo absorbs carbon dioxide and emits 30% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees. FSC Certified: The bamboo crop comes with the tick of approval from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC provides the gold standard in environmental forest certification and promotes the responsible management of the world’s forests, ensuring that the harvest of timber does not destroy the habitats of protected species or take away precious resources from the people and economies that depend on them.
I’m such a big fan of this company and am excited to add a few more pieces to my wardrobe collection. Let me show you some of the new season pieces.
Woven Bamboo Blouse
This Woven Bamboo Blouse is one of my favourites. I already have the full sleeve length version in white (that I purchased at the start of this year). I loved it and wanted the short version in the black. Great with jeans, shorts, over dresses and more. The sleeve is a lovely length, and as you can see from the second picture, you can either pin the sleeve up with the button or have it a little longer by releasing it.

Other Items:
Shoes: Crocs Leigh Sandal Wedge in Black (BEST travel wedges EVER) — so light and comfy but still stylish. Denim Shorts: Decjuba Charlie Distressed Shorts. Rings & Necklaces: Mimco Wedding Ring alternative: Enso (I have trouble wearing rings for a long time because my hands swell and go down often. I found a silicone wedding ring so I could wear it all the time. I am wearing the Classic Elements Silicone Ring in Rose. Melanie Dress
Below is the Melanie Dress in the colour, Sage. It also comes in a delicious yellow colour called Golden. It’s a beautiful length, and so versatile for spring and summer. It’s great for layering for the weather, dressing-up or dressing down.

Below, left to right:
Worn alone If you need a little extra sun/warmth coverage, you can throw a top over the dress. This second image is with the Tap Sleeve Top in Sage. I love the sleeve length, and it has a button so you can adjust the length. I’ve also worn this dress with the Sophie shirt in Rust. Just throw the tee over the dress, tie a little knot and you’re ready to go. In this look, I have added the Woven Bamboo Blouse in Black — tied in a knot. It also comes in other colours such as blue and white. When I wore the Melanie dress this particular day, it got a bit chilly, and I added a denim jacket. Have to show you the swirl! It’s just so feminent and pretyt.
Other Items:
The denim jacket is from Decjuba — Luxe Sienne Denim Jacket Wallet/Bag: Read more about my favourite everyday bag/wallet from SAK here. Black/Nude shoes: Crocs Leigh Sandal Wedge in Oat/Mushroom/Black. Other rose gold jewellery: Mimco. Pocket Pants
These pants have POCKETS! They are so comfy, it feels like you are wearing PJs. I needed some pants with length that would still be cool enough for summer.
I am wearing them with the Sophie top in Rust. The pants have an adjustable leg length. It looks cute buttoned up.
Other Items:
French Market Basket (purchased from Champagne Cartel – not available anymore). However, the brand is 2 Duck Trading Company and you can get them elsewhere. I bought the shoes a decade ago from a little shop at Mt Tamborine Gallery Walk (unfortunately, the shop isn’t there anymore). Sophie Shirt
If you’re looking for a classic tee, this one is fabulous. I particularly like the sleeve length, but if you’re after something a bit shorter, Bamboo Body has SO many different styles you can browse here. I purchased the Taylor top in Black in January this year and it’s one of my fav tops.

Other items:
Hat: Big On Hats – Ginger Earrings: Gorman (not available anymore) Shoes Crocs Leigh Sandal Wedge in Oat/Mushroom
I am so delighted to write about this company. I’ve been wearing their clothes all year and I’m such a fan. I still have a few things on my wish list. Probably right at the top is to get the Issy Skirt in Black (I already have it in Jade). It’s my favourite skirt (although it is a heavier skirt so better for cooler months). I did notice, Bamboo Body does have a shorter skirt that looks gorgeous in the new summer collection called the Bamboo Midi Skirt.

What I find helpful about the website, because the company has been around for over a decade, there are many reviews from customers so you can get feedback on different styles. In terms of sizing, I find they are true to size (I am usually a 12 or M typically in most clothing, and find the 12 or M fits well).

Check out all the products available on the website: bamboobody.com.au. Highly recommend.
