With Valentine’s Day approaching I thought it could be fun to share a roundup of date night-ready outfits I’ve created over the years. As I was going through the archives I noticed that all these looks fall into one of three main themes, which are:
- AN OVERSIZED BLAZER
- SOMETHING SILK
- AN ELEMENT OF VOLUME
The main through-line in my date night style is elevated ease because to me comfort = confidence.
Whether you’ve got a date planned with a partner, a good friend, or perhaps your #1 self, I hope this post inspires some new ideas and gets you excited for the warmer weather ahead! Consider this a bit of spring style inspiration with a healthy dose of the more feminine side of my personal style.

DATE-NIGHT THEME 1
First up is a failsafe combo – jeans and a blazer. A pair of jeans that you feel great in with a slinky black top, oversized blazer, and cute heels is just never going to do you wrong!
Same, same, but different. Doubling down on black with a black tee and black blazer (could be any colour really) has a major impact on this simple look. Looser fitting jeans feel current and casual at the same time.
This is my, “I need to look polished and feel cute in under 5 minutes.” outfit formula:
Oversized Blazer + Fitted T-shirt + High Waist Straight Leg Jeans + Black Boots + Gold Jewelry
This look is from 2015 and I’d still rock it for a dinner date any time! Double white up top and a black base with suede and gold accents is the definition of low-key luxe.
This look is just proof that you don’t need to wear heels (your shoes don’t even need them!) for a sophisticated look.
BLACK BLAZER (if sold out try this one) | 3/4 RIBBED CREWNECK (use this link for 10% Off) | LE BRUT DENIM* (slightly lighter wash) | SADDLE SUEDE MULES – Use LEE15 for 15% Off | HEADBAND (old) | *Linked to similar option
DATE-NIGHT THEME 2
This outfit straddles a couple of themes since there’s a blazer but since the entire base is silk, it’s going in this bank. Don’t underestimate the power of movement in an outfit. Silk is so alluring because it hints at the frame beneath without needing to be revealing or tight at all.
Another oldie. A long top layer like a silky trench in a bold colour can really make an impact on a simple base like this black tank and white jeans.
This one is a personal favourite because it’s so comfy and yet so striking at the same time. Perfect for a cocktail hour chat.
Same silk shirt but amped up with a bold pair of wide leg jeans. Love this for a daytime date.
Another old gem. I love how this one mixes masculine and feminine elements like a boxy shirt and a silky midi skirt.
DATE-NIGHT THEME 3
AN ELEMENT OF VOLUME
I love a puffy sleeve and a tied waist and I don’t care who knows it. You really can’t go wrong with a great pair of jeans and a fun top.
This is one I find a reason to repeat at least once a year. It’s giving French Riviera meets Prairie perfection.
Carrying on with the print train, this light as air puff sleeve top is so fun under a silky jumper.
If jeans aren’t your jam, then opt for a slinky wide-leg pant with a wrap top instead. I love the look of volume on top and bottom with an element to create shape at the waist.
I love how this look balances oversized fits with flirty elements like a cropped and gathered waist.
PEACH TOP (old, similar here and here and here) | WHITNEY JEANS (Use LEE15 for 15% Off) | WOVEN TOTE* (old) | MULES* (old) | RING (similar for less here) | SPLIT RING (old) | EARRINGS* | *Linked to similar option
