Bucket, Bucket, Full of Sand Song and Activity
One of the most popular resources on Growing Book by Book is our Circle Time Songs and Chants. Singing is such a great way to build literacy skills.
Here is a summer beach themed printable song that builds literacy skills.
This song is sung to the tune “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and builds beginning sound recognition and letter matching. All you need is the printable and your singing voice.
Cut the letter sandcastles and buckets apart before playing. You may choose to laminate them for durability especially if you are planning on adding them into a literacy center.
Sing the song together and then let the students take turns finding the bucket of sand that matches the beginning sound match on the sandcastle. Continue singing and playing until all sand buckets and castles have been matched.
Extension/Differentiation
–Use the sandcastles to practice put the letters in ABC order.
-Use the picture buckets to work on ending sounds.
