- Here’s cheering for a local restaurateur. It was a Tuesday afternoon, and already the crowd was thick. People were ordering food, drinks and watching the games on televisions that were mounted overhead. This is a typical sports-food establishment, trying to make ends meet.

Chicago’s Goose Island brews are known for their distinctive taste—you’ll find the essence of tobacco, white pepper and even banana. by David Kirkpatrick The first Goose Island Brewpub opened its doors in Chicago in 1988, back when there were few Midwestern craft breweries. But Goose Island quickly attracted a loyal following and established a reputation for excellence.
Nibble on these links slowly, as you can see I’m not doing Afternoon Food & Drink daily that much anymore, partly due to the lack of quality links and partly do to my lack of time. I’ll be coming up with a new posting schedule here pretty quickly.

Afternoon food & drink
Today, we’re going to do something special for Afternoon Food & Drink, we’re going to link to a solitary article, why? Because everyone needs to read it.

Jennifer Hernandez did an outstanding job documenting our local food producers and the area restaurants who make it a point to use local produce and meat.
Read it and pass it along and make it a point to eat at places that put an emphasis on using local ingredients.
Of course, while you’re at it you might as well go ahead and read through the first ever Boise Weekly Restaurant Guide, it’s filled with great information.

The job was horrible: I would scrape plates, wash dishes and bus tables. I was, in general, the kitchen’s whipping boy.
