A Monday brew – Salmon River Wet Hop Wild
Had this in a growler this weekend, figured it’d be a good one to start off a week of fresh hopped beers. McCall’s Salmon River Brewing used wet hops out of their own fields which are located in Emmett to make this wet hopped beer.
Wet Hop Wild pours a cloudy dark yellow with a nice white head — there is nice lacing on the side of the glass as the beer is consumed. The nose has notes of lemon, freshly cut green grass with some underlying notes that remind one of wet, woody bark. The flavor has a nice upfront taste of slightly piney lemony citrus notes, with a lingering lite lemon meringue pie taste, there are also some oak notes that seem to be hanging in the background. The mouthfeel is smooth, almost butter-ish, a refreshing beer.
It was brewed in pretty limited quantity so you you want some you better head up to McCall and visit Salmon River Brewery pretty soon.
Here is a post I did about SRB earlier this summer.
We also had a growler of McCtoberfest which is their fall seasonal, also a good beer with a nice amount of spice.
