Wednesday night tunes

Son Volt and “Catching On” from their awesome ’95 album Trace.

Growing up an Uncle Tupelo fan I got into Wilco and Son Volt after the Jeff Tweedy/Jay Farrar break up, but I’ll say I  always just dug Wilco a bit more. That being said there is not doubt that Farrar played just as much of a role in making Uncle Tupelo an amazing band as Tweedy.

Son Volt will be playing at Woodriver Cellars with the Cowboy Junkies — another great band — this coming Friday. If it wasn’t going to be so bloody hot out and I wasn’t going to Blitzen Trapper already, you might have seen me out there (would’ve helped had I remembered it too).

Check out the details for the show here.
