A Wednesday brew – Captain Sig’s Northwestern Ale

Yet another great offering from Rogue.

Pours with a really nice creamy, fluffy head with some extreme lacing as the beer is quaffed. Color is a deep amber mahogany, very nice looking American amber. The nose is floral and hoppy with a touch of citrus. Taste is really tangy and hoppy with some nice burnt caramel malts and bitter chocolate, a lot of piney hops on the finish. The mouthfeel is powerful and bubbly, pretty enjoyable to imbibe.

Really a pretty good, hoppy brew — it isn’t as balanced as I would prefer, but if you’re in the mood for a full bodied hop fest, this is it.

You can pick it up from Smoke-N-Brew in Nampa and Paul’s in McCall, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Boise Co-op or A New Vintage have it on hand, but I don’ t know for sure.
