A Mai Thai happy hour
5 dolla’ foot long, heh, I prefer 5 dolla’ mojitos from the Downtown Boise Mai Thai.
Thai taco: Stir-fried ground chicken with Thai basil in crispy taco shells. Tossed with shredded cheese, served with Thai sweet chili sauce.
Great happy hour, you can choose from a host of appetizers that range from 99 cents to $1.59 to $3.95. Had we stayed longer we could have eatin’ like kings and had two rounds of mojitos all for 50-55 bucks, not bad for 4 people. This night we ended up ordering some tofu satay, Thai spring roll, pot stickers and dim sum. Sorry, I didn’t get any pics of them, they were promptly consumed by myself and my happy hour trekking compadres before the camera could escape my pocket.
It should also be noted that if you happen to have an vegetarians or vegans in your wagon train Mai Thai is a great place to take them. They have a whole host of vegetarian and vegan-friendly items on their menu — and it isn’t after-thought veggie fare — a rarity in Boise’s culinary scene.
All was good, and all was cheap — except for the very limited beer selection (I won’t hold that against them though) Mai Thai has a pretty rockin’ happy hour.
Check ‘em out next time you’re downtown.
