A Wednesday brew – Cerveza Jerome Negra

A friend brought this one over the other day.

Cerveza Jerome Negra poured with a nice head and had so-so lacing as you drank it. It pours black, very black, when I held it up to the sunlight I still couldn’t see through it. Nose was quite vivid, a lot of malt and bitter chocolates. Taste was very malty with some dark chocolate, toffee, hops and a lot of tobacco flavors going on. Had a pretty pleasant mouthfeel as well — also it was pretty light for being such a dark and refined beer, only 6.5% ABV.

While I’m not a huge fan of Jerome’s beers for the most part — I’d do this one again — although I’d save it for those more mild Idaho months.

Beer Advocate.
